As Director of Production your mandate is to ensure FIJI Water is able to meet the ever increasing demand for its product while honoring its commitment to quality and corporate responsibility. The role

Here is a rare opportunity to take ownership of all aspects of production including in-bound and out-bound logistics.  You will be a practical, results focused, commercially astute and high performing Operations / Production / Manufacturing Manager with a hunger for change and continuous improvement.  This is a broad-based role offers plenty of scope and autonomy to blend practical, leadership and strategic responsibilities.   This is what you can expect to do:

  • Develop a high performing team (1 direct and a total of 80 indirect reports via a Line Manager, Supervisor and Team Leader structure): personnel assessment and development, training, mentoring and succession planning.
  • Drive productivity and performance improvement across the production department (output, cost, safety, environment, people).
  • Drive the implementation of a Continuous Improvement / Lean / Six Sigma culture. Develop a high performing team capable of sustaining operational excellence initiatives and continuously meet goals.
  • Manage all aspects of cost for the department including budget preparation and management reporting.
  • Work closely with internal and external engineering resources and vendors to drive improved OEEs and adopt a Lean approach to sustainable and right-first-time problem solving.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Project Engineers and local engineering staff in the execution of the capital projects plan.

 Skills, experience and attributes

We seek a can-do individual who can offer solutions to issues, and the personality to inspire cooperation.  Your toolbox of skills and experiences is broad. You have:

  • A relevant degree in Engineering, Food Technology, Manufacturing Management or a related field.
  • A background in production management from within high-volume food, beverage or dairy processing environments.
  • Experience in a high speed packaging. Exposure to PET blow / fill operations and an understanding of injection molding would be advantageous.
  • An extensive hands-on background as a manufacturing / operations leader at Manager / Strategic Director levels in a technologically advanced global organisation of significant size and complexity.
  • Exposure to / understanding of Lean Six Sigma methodologies (eg Kaizen, RCA, SMED, Fishbone, Poke Yoke, 5 Whys) a desire to get behind and drive lean thinking initiatives and a track record in influencing step change. Six Sigma Certification is preferred.
  • A positive, willing and can do attitude, personal resilience, resourcefulness and the ability to adapt to a new and culturally diverse environment.
