The opportunity

This established production facility based in Wanganui has a dominant footprint within New Zealand and is now extending into Australia and worldwide.  Their products are innovative, safe, robust and of the highest quality and they continually look to do things better.  A realignment in the business has created the opportunity for a Purchasing Officer to be apart of their exciting growth.  

The role

In this role, you will be expected to bring your experience in purchasing to work alongside the operations team and lead the procurement within the company. 


  • Sourcing raw materials, component and imported gear and pricing of potential projects.
  • Cost minimization, continuous improvement and supplier evaluations.
  • Help improve company gross profit.
  • Be the go to person for the company purchasing.
  • Adding value to clients, suppliers and production.

Skills and experience

  • Experience in negotiating
  • More than 3 years experience in a purchasing role
  • ERP/MRP knowledge with Abel or similar software
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Able to solve problems and follow processes
  • QS experience from construction background would be an advantage
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills
