About the role

 What we’re really seeking is a People Manager. With four departmental Leaders reporting to you responsible for day to day production (Machining, Fabrication, Electrical and Finishing), in this new role of Production Manager you will take a higher level view, focusing on staff development and engagement, as well as ongoing operational improvement to improve quality and production performance.

 As Production Manager, your core responsibilities are:

  • Operational Management and Scheduling: Production planning and scheduling for a batch production and bespoke / custom assembly operation. Capacity and labour planning. Process improvement to optimise outcomes and address any issues.
  • Continuous Improvement: Be the operational champion for improvements and World-Class ideas. Coach CI methodology and be proactively involved in CI initiatives.
  • Staff management: Provide leadership, guidance and mentoring to improve staff performance and engagement. Active involvement in recruitment, performance reviews and personal development planning. Promote and uphold a great company culture.
  • Analysis and Reporting: Collation, analysis and timely reporting of operational and individual performance. Run effective meetings. 

Skills and Attributes

  • Trade qualified Engineer eg Sheetmetal, Mechanical Engineering.
  • Significant experience gained in leadership role within the manufacturing sector. A background in the fabrication or general engineering sector would be ideal, but is not essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You enjoy working with people and seeing them develop and succeed.
  • Sound understanding of Lean principles, and involvement in the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Able to work in a team, flexible and customer focused to support the sales effort.
