The role 

We need an energetic, enthusiastic and passionate procurement professional who can demonstrate superior performance and, importantly, is prepared to work at a grass roots, hands-on level to deliver the full range of operational and strategic level purchasing and procurement initiatives. Your role will involve: 

  • Establishing, developing, implementing and continuously improving ‘fit for purpose’ purchasing systems and processes that will deliver bottom line results within a large, high throughput, business with significant $multi million spend. This will include direct (operational) and indirect categories – everything from packaging, production plant and equipment, cleaning and PPE products to engineering and capital spares, logistics service providers and utilities – you will take charge of it all.
  • Lead a team of 2 responsible for day-do-day transactional purchasing.
  • Inventory management – maintaining optimal inventory levels, managing SLOB stock and developing systems to accurately track all stock movements.
  • Working directly with suppliers to strengthen relationships and manage vendor KPIs. Lead contract negotiations and manage contract arrangements with suppliers.
  • Working cross-functionally with site-wide business stakeholders. Obtain Group Buy-in and implement best practice for the Group. 

Key skills and attributes

This role will appeal to a Senior Buyer or Purchasing / Procurement Manager familiar with highly reactive and fast-moving manufacturing environments constrained by a high degree of regulatory compliance and stringent food safety standards. Skills and experience gained as a change manager and influencer will be well utilise as you establish fully integrated, demand and MRP driven centralised systems and processes.
