“Quality is very much embedded into everything they do, and everyone works with a mind-set that there is always room for improvement- John Varughese – CSCP NZPICS members had the opportunity to visit Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, Highbrook site on July 21st, 2022. A special thanks to Jacquelene Bycroft, Gaël Lasserre, Mandeep Virdi and Patrick Marcelo for hosting NZPICS members.
The attendees (L to R: John Varughese, Richie Panjwani, Aimee Taylor, Martin Wolfaard, Hoson Man, CPIM, Jacquelene Bycroft, David Bryant, ‘Chris Stewart’, Ruth Kohlhase and Vibha Arora were given a tour of the facility and provided an overview of the manufacturing, distribution, automation process.
What impressed the attendees most was the meticulous attention to quality. Quality is deeply ingrained in everything Fisher & Paykel Healthcare do. Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Staff operate with
the mind-set that there is always potential for improvement. Processes are standardized, performance is assessed and reported, and goals for improvement are defined collaboratively. Each of the 2,500 employees are aware of the positive contribution towards the business goal.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI) display boards are seen around the workplace and serve as the focal point of daily toolbox meetings.
The attendees were humbled to witness the leadership team’s enthusiasm and pride in whatever they do. They took the time to listen and respond to all of the basic queries posed by NZPICS members. A three-hour visit turned into four, and the members departed inspired and happy to be a part of the Supply Chain business.
